Rumors of Frankie Beverly’s possible retirement and health surround the future of the iconic band
Several longtime band members of MAZE featuring Frankie Beverly, including co-founder Roame, have formed their own group, “The Formerly Of Maze Featuring Frankie Beverly,” and will go on tour this summer with Anthony Hamilton Official. According to a news release obtained exclusively by Roland S Martin and Black Star Network, TMF – which stands for “The Music Forever” – will be joined by Chris Walker as lead singer. The members are Roame on percussion and background vocals; John “Jubu” Smith as lead guitar and background vocals; Bear Williams, bass guitar and background vocals; Vance Taylor, keyboards; Calvin Napper on drums; and Daniel Witherspoon on keyboards and organ. They will begin their “An All White Affair” Tour in Atlanta on June 18 at Chastain Park.
The last time these artists performed with Frankie Beverly was in February in Los Angeles. On Sunday, Maze Featuring Frankie Beverly performed at the New Orleans Jazz Fest without his longtime bandmates, and several folks tweeted that Frankie, who owns the name of the group, announced that he was retiring.

This is truly a travesty because it seems to be an orchestrated steal, coup. Why would Frankie adhere to his band members touring with his music that he wrote from his heart? Frank is still performing, It is disrespectful and shameful.
I Agree That This Was An Orchestrated Coup. The lie was put out there that Frankie was retiring. They thought this would get them accepted more. But Frankie fooled them & didn’t retire. He got a new MAZE band, & he is booked & busy!!!
